PARENTAL STRESS
Parental stress is a common occurrence in every family,as if we need to use one word only to describe parenting, one of the most suitable would probably be 'stress'.
Stress arises from all those physical and emotional demands and we feel incapable of dealing with the daily tension on which we subjected.
To the parent stress belong all the little daily trifles we come upon: from the moments of trying to wake children up for school in the morning to that of finally putting them to sleep late in the evening.
These are only minor bothers but they nevertheless accrue over time, building in pressure, until we are totally overcome with anger and frustration.
It doesn't matter if you're at home or at work, whether you're single or married, mother or father, parent of one child or several children: maintaining inner poise and multiplying your energy can be really hard.
Some of the widespread causes of parental stress are:
- Aggressive children
- Children under performing in school
- Handling stepchildren
- Hyperactive children
- Caring for a physically or mentally challenged child
- Nursing chronically ill child
- Parenting adolescents or teenagers
Parenting can be a pleasurable experience despite its inherent anxieties, worries, frustrations and physical stress. Here is how:
- Accept the fact that stress can`t be avoided
- Seek support from near and dear ones or experts
- Plan the day`s work
- Communicate more freely with children
- Encourage children to forget failure and help them to strive for better performances
- Lend an ear to the children
- Share quality time with them
But even the best advices sometimes cannot help to combat stress because all children are different in nature and every child is educates individually.
