HOW SKIN BENEFITS FROM WATER

How Skin Benefits from Water The relation between water and the condition of our skin has long been established. Both internal and external hydration are important for healthy and beautiful skin. To gain an idea of what this relation is really like, try to picture a sponge: it's soft and elastic when wet and crumbly when dry.

External contacts with water do matter but not as much as hydration from the inside. When the total amount of fluids in the body is insufficient, extra water may not only fail to reach the skin, but that already contained in it can be directed to other vital organs. Just try to think that low levels of water in the body damage your skin. For one reason or another, some people do find it hard to drink water during the day. What follows below is designed to help them.

Try drinking half a glass of water before every meal. Turn this into a habit, similarly to taking vitamins or other medication. This quantity should not be an obstacle for anyone. Stock your refrigerator with bottles of water. Many people claim that cold water tastes better. It may be a good idea to drink mixes that are rich in water. Fruit juice is usually very sweet, so you can dilute it with water. You take a great advantage out of that: the taste of water is not that plain and you reduce the amount of sugar you consume.

Choose types of food whose water content is high. Fresh fruit always supply the body with the necessary amount of water. Eat more juicy fruit, such as watermelon, musk melon, cantaloupe, apples, oranges and any type of berries (particularly blueberries and strawberries). Tomatoes, peppers and onions are also amazing for that purpose. Other good examples are the water-based soups (instead of the creamy ones) and chili. Hydration can also be easily restored with leafy green vegetables.

Let us offer you some tips on how to make such vegetables an invariable part of your diet. Always make a salad for dinner, together with the main dishes you have cooked. You’ll be surprised to find that as little as a few bites of lettuce with dressing can do wonders. Next time you make an omelet, put some spinach as well. Switch to tomato sandwiches.

Finally, make sure you always have a glass or a bottle of water in front of you: this will remind you to drink water. Put water on your desk before you get down to work. If you prefer it cold, always check that you have some in the fridge. If you try to follow some or all of these tips, you will surely increase your total daily intake of liquids. This, on its turn, will guarantee hydration in general and the healthy condition of your skin in particular.
