HEALTHY AND STUNNING HAIR IN FIVE SIMPLE STEPS

Healthy and Stunning Hair in Five Simple Steps Articles from numerous sources and internet posts draw our attention towards skin care, especially during the summer. Do we take proper care of our scalp, though? Few people know that it is the key to healthy and amazing hair. Take a few minutes to go through the ideas listed below.

Shampoos and washing

You can’t but heard about the tendency of washing hair less frequently to preserve its natural moisture. It’s becoming ever more popular lately. You may have been fooled by this trend, too, but before you put it into practice, read on. Imagine you took a shower once a week only. How do you think your body would feel? Or, washing your face, let’s say, 2 times a week. How does this sound? So, why things should be different when it comes to the scalp? To have healthy skin on top of your head, you should keep it clean. Washing removes particles that make both scalp and hair dirty but does not deprive skin of its natural hydration. The sulfate-free shampoos are recommended over the harsh detergents. Shampoos rich in silk and wheat proteins will maintain the moisture of your hair.

Massages

Blood-flow can make hair follicles produce thick and shiny hairs. What can better blood-flow in the scalp? Massages! The easiest and most comfortable way is to massage your scalp while in the shower. Try it next time you wash your hair: put on some shampoo and let your fingertips gently slide on your scalp while foaming. Some people’s scalp tends to be very dry. They can even do a pre-wash massage using nurturing oils. Some perfect ideas would be antioxidant-rich argan oil, grapeseed oil or the antibacterial and soothing lavender oil. A few drops of any oil are enough to enrich the scalp. Rub them delicately in the skin of the head before washing.

Enriching substances: Anybody who cares about their health and wellbeing knows how essential nutrients are. Hair and the scalp make no exception. They benefit the most from fatty acids, beta-carotene and antioxidants. If we have to recommend a single ingredient that combines all these and also locks hydration in, this will be olive oil. Moisturizing and nourishing, it prevents the scalp from scaling and flaking and encourages hair growth. Vitamin E is equally effective.

Brushes

It’s not true that all brushes are the same and that there’s only one way to brush your hair. Opt for plastic brushes instead of bristles. Plastic is much softer and yields to hair. Bristles can be quite rough. If you’re used to combing your hair with a bristle brush, make sure it’s ball-tipped and not so tightly packed. Brushing is something that we do many times a day, so no hair damage should come out of that. Moreover, it will be a good idea to try vented brushes. Apart from being smoother, they also disperse heat when used in drying.

You may not know it but hairdryers sometimes seriously impair our hair because of the so-called hot spots: the locks of hair that are exposed to the highest temperature. Brushing should be light and delicate. Contrary to what many people believe, energetic brushing dulls rather than enlivens your hair. Wide-toothed combs are the best choice. We strongly recommend the novel plastic combs soaked in hydrating elements (macadamia nut oil, for example). They are exclusively made for dry and fluttering hair.

SPF products

Most people have already embraced the idea of sun protection, especially in summer. What we often do, however, is to protect skin all over our bodies, except that on our heads. Sun exposure can burn the scalp and even further dehydrate it. This often causes itching. Harmful sun rays damage the scalp the same way they damage skin elsewhere in the body. It becomes dry, wizened and coarse.

People also seem to neglect the risk of moles on the scalp or, in other words, skin cancer. Next time you part your hair before you go out, put on a sunscreen stick or an SPF lip balm to the exposed area. Get your skin and scalp examined every year. Along with medical professionals, hairstylists can also inform you about unusual formations on the scalp.
