THE IDEAL MAKE-UP FOR ACNE-PRONE TEENS

The Ideal Make-Up for Acne-Prone Teens Most teens are prone to acne and feel really embarrassed about it. While acne is primarily explained with the physiological changes attributed to this age, its causes are not always the same. Acne is often found in teenagers with oily skin. However, some of them actually have dry skin which even becomes irritated from the anti-acne products they use. Teens with acne often have another skin condition present: an eczema. They have to be especially careful as to how they treat their skin as it may become further dehydrated and peel off.

Dermatologists refer to proper moisturizing in this case. Ensuring moisture to the skin of your face cannot but have positive effects. Non-oily, non-comedogenic products will be the best choice here. Although each case is different, dry and acne-prone skin can be also treated with antibiotics and hydrating gels.

Concealing Spots with Foundation

Foundation is one of the essential items of make-up. It can be applied not only to highlight the beautiful features of the face, but also to conceal blemishes. This is usually one of the first make-up products teenagers reach for when acne shows up. Fortunately, cosmetic brands offer an endless variety of foundations that all differ in texture, ingredients and purpose. It is very important to select the type of foundation that will best suit your skin.

Liquid Foundations

Liquid foundations are very suitable for teenagers and in fact often recommended by dermatologists to hide acne. They typically have a lighter texture and while still covering the spots, provide a more natural, makeup-free look of the face. They also work well on the skin to lock hydration in. The so-called all-in-one products designed specifically for teens are rich in salicylic acid. They do not block the pores and allow the skin to breathe.

Mineral Foundations

Foundations and face powders are often based on minerals. The labels of these products guarantee efficient and long-lasting cover together with softer and healthier skin. What you may, however, skip to notice is the fact that they are oil-based which is no good for the acne-prone skin. If this is the product that you find most suitable for yourself, just make sure you take it off properly in the evening. Mineral foundations are most easily and completely removed with the help of oil-based products and mild toners.

Cover Sticks

Cover sticks are sometimes treated skeptically but they can be a good enough option for teenage girls. They do cover successfully zits and redness without exactly being ‘heavy’ make-up. Cover sticks are ideal for girls who wish to apply concealing make-up on their face but have their skin even oilier as a result. Cover sticks are used only on the spots. As with foundations, matching colour is essential here. Nuances sometimes differ from brand to brand, so it will be a good idea to take your mum or your BFF with you when picking up the colour. Finally, don’t forget that little make-up is the key to a great appearance: looking like yourself, only without the minor blemishes.
